Trim and Baseboard Replacement, on one written scope.
Base, casing, and crown that meet in a miter, with the wall straight enough for the profile.

What’s included on a trim and baseboard replacement visit.
We inspect the cause, check what else it touched, and leave a written scope with materials and timing. The visit is free and there is no obligation to book the work.
What to know before the visit.
Have ready
Pull furniture back from the walls and note any spots with water staining, soft drywall, or a gap at the floor, since those get addressed before new trim covers them. If you want a specific profile, keep a short piece of the old trim for matching. The first three checks are how far the wall bows or leans, the existing trim height and profile, and where outlets, returns, and door casings interrupt the run.
- Match the existing profile
- Plan around outlets
- Caulk the paint joint
- Fill and sand the nail holes
The visit
A trim and baseboard replacement visit starts by naming the failure, not by selling the fix. We check what the problem touched, protect the floors and the rooms below, and leave a written scope. The work is done in one sequence by the same company, so the trade that caused the damage is the trade that closes it.
What fails first on the Shore is what we look at: salt-rotted fasteners, water finding the soft spot, and the 'quick fix' that never dealt with the cause. For trim and baseboard replacement, the tell is usually visible on the first visit, and we say what it means in plain English.
Permit
Installing baseboard and casing is finish carpentry and normally needs no permit. A permit is not required to replace trim that was damaged by water, either, though the leak that caused the damage is a separate repair with its own scope. A permit can apply when trim is part of a larger permitted alteration or when a wall is opened or moved. In Monmouth and Ocean County towns the trim scope on its own is repair and finish work.
On the Shore
Humidity and damp slabs are what ruin trim at the Shore. MDF and finger-jointed material wick moisture from a concrete floor or a leaky wall, swell at the bottom, and push the paint off. Salt air also dulls and corrodes the nails. Moisture-resistant trim or PVC is used in baths, basements, and laundry areas, the bottom edge is sealed, and the wall joint is caulked so water cannot sit behind the base.
When we leave
The technician walks the room and checks that every joint is tight, the base sits level and follows the wall, and the caulk line at the wall is smooth. Nail holes are filled and sanded, and any scuff marks are touched in. You get a note on which areas are paint-ready and on waiting for the caulk to cure before painting if the room is damp.
Built with
The job uses base, casing, and crown in the profile that matches the house, in primed wood, finger-jointed material, or PVC for damp areas. Construction adhesive is used with finish nails to hold the trim flat, and paintable latex caulk closes the wall joint. Nail holes are filled with a sandable filler, and any exposed end grain at a return is sealed before paint.
How soon can we book this?
Call and we usually get an on-site look scheduled within a day or two, sooner for anything active. Trim and Baseboard Replacement is booked from the same Ocean Township base.
Do you work weekends?
Yes. Saturday appointments are normal, and emergency repairs are answered 24/7.
Is this licensed work?
Licensed and insured, NJ HIC #13VH09886800. Where the town requires a permit, we pull it.
What if the job turns out bigger?
We stop and show you before we go any further, then quote the additional scope separately.
Will you clean up?
Floor protection, dust control, and haul-away are part of the visit, not an add-on.
Can you match my existing trim profile?
Usually. The height, thickness, and profile of the existing piece are measured, and matching stock or a close equivalent is used. If the pattern is discontinued, the closest available match is shown to you before anything is ordered.
Should I use MDF or wood baseboard?
It depends on the room. Wood and PVC handle moisture far better in baths, basements, and laundry areas. MDF paints smooth and is fine in dry rooms, but it swells and stays swollen once water reaches the bottom edge.
Do you caulk the top of the baseboard?
Yes. Caulking the joint between the trim and the wall closes the gap so air and moisture do not move through it, and it gives a clean paint line. The caulk is paintable so the finish coat covers it.
Will you move the outlets?
Outlets stay in place and the base is fit around them. The box is checked to be sure it is flush with the finished wall, and extenders are added if the new trim sits proud of the old surface.
