Interior Door Installation and Adjustment, on one written scope.
Prehung doors hung plumb, and the hinge and latch adjustments that stop a door from sticking.

What’s included on an interior door installation and adjustment visit.
We inspect the cause, check what else it touched, and leave a written scope with materials and timing. The visit is free and there is no obligation to book the work.
What to know before the visit.
Have ready
Clear both sides of the opening and remove anything fragile from the swing path, then decide whether the door should swing in or out and which way it should hinge. If the door is being replaced, keep the old one until the new one is hung so the size and finish can be matched. The first three checks are the rough opening width and height, whether the jamb is plumb and the header level, and the floor height across the opening.
- Check the opening for square
- Shim and set the jamb
- Mortise the strike
- Adjust the hinges
The visit
A interior door installation and adjustment visit starts by naming the failure, not by selling the fix. We check what the problem touched, protect the floors and the rooms below, and leave a written scope. The work is done in one sequence by the same company, so the trade that caused the damage is the trade that closes it.
What fails first on the Shore is what we look at: salt-rotted fasteners, water finding the soft spot, and the 'quick fix' that never dealt with the cause. For interior door installation and adjustment, the tell is usually visible on the first visit, and we say what it means in plain English.
Permit
Hanging or adjusting an interior door is finish carpentry and normally needs no permit. A permit becomes part of the job when the opening changes, such as cutting a new doorway in a bearing wall or widening a structural opening, or when it is part of a larger permitted remodel in Monmouth or Ocean County. A straight swap into the existing frame is repair work. Monmouth and Ocean County towns treat it the same way, and the scope is confirmed before the old door comes down.
On the Shore
Shore humidity moves wood. A door that is tight in July can drag in October, and a hollow-core slab can take on moisture at the bottom edge and swell until it rubs the jamb. Solid-core and moisture-resistant slabs hold up better near baths and exterior doors. Doors are hung with a small, even gap at the head and sides, and the bottom is finished on all edges so it does not wick moisture from the floor.
When we leave
The technician latches and unlatches the door several times, checks the gap around the slab for an even reveal, and confirms the door does not swing on its own or drag on the floor. The strike plate is checked so the latch catches without a shove, and the hinges are tightened. You get a note to paint or seal the top and bottom edges of any unfinished door before the season changes.
Built with
The job uses prehung units with a primed or finished jamb, or slab doors fitted to the existing frame, in hollow-core, solid-core, or moisture-resistant construction depending on the room. Shims, trim head screws, and hinge screws long enough to reach framing are used. Hinges are sized to the door weight, and a latch and strike set is fitted with the correct backset.

Have another question? Call (732) 333-7800 anytime.
How soon can we book this?
Call and we usually get an on-site look scheduled within a day or two, sooner for anything active. Interior Door Installation and Adjustment is booked from the same Ocean Township base.
Do you work weekends?
Yes. Saturday appointments are normal, and emergency repairs are answered 24/7.
Is this licensed work?
Licensed and insured, NJ HIC #13VH09886800. Where the town requires a permit, we pull it.
What if the job turns out bigger?
We stop and show you before we go any further, then quote the additional scope separately.
Will you clean up?
Floor protection, dust control, and haul-away are part of the visit, not an add-on.
Can you fix a door that sticks instead of replacing it?
Often yes. Sticking is usually a hinge, a loose jamb, or seasonal swelling rather than a bad door. The cause is found first, and only a door that is warped or damaged beyond adjustment is replaced.
How long does hanging a door take?
A single interior door is usually a same-day job once the opening is ready. Older frames that are out of plumb or a wall that needs repair can add time, and that is pointed out before work starts rather than after.
Will the new door match the old trim?
The existing casing and jamb are matched for width and profile so the new unit sits in the same plane. If the old trim is a discontinued pattern, the closest match is shown to you before the door is ordered.
Do you paint or stain the door?
Doors are hung ready for finish. A primed door still needs its final coat, including the top and bottom edges, because unfinished edges are where moisture gets in and where a door starts to swell and stick.
