Ductwork Repair and Sealing, on one written scope.
Fallen flex, crushed runs, and leaks at the takeoffs, sealed where they can be reached.

What’s included on a ductwork repair and sealing visit.
We inspect the cause, check what else it touched, and leave a written scope with materials and timing. The visit is free and there is no obligation to book the work.
What to know before the visit.
Have ready
Clear the attic hatch or crawlspace door and move anything stored on top of the duct runs, because the technician has to travel the length of them. Note which rooms are weak and whether it is heating, cooling, or both. The first checks are the takeoffs at the plenum, whether the flex is still strapped to the collar, then the runs for a crushed or disconnected section, then the support, since a sagging flex loses its round shape and its airflow. The return path is checked last, because a starved return looks like a supply problem.
- Inspect the accessible runs
- Reconnect and support the flex
- Seal the joints
- Balance the supply
The visit
A ductwork repair and sealing visit starts by naming the failure, not by selling the fix. We check what the problem touched, protect the floors and the rooms below, and leave a written scope. The work is done in one sequence by the same company, so the trade that caused the damage is the trade that closes it.
What fails first on the Shore is what we look at: salt-rotted fasteners, water finding the soft spot, and the 'quick fix' that never dealt with the cause. For ductwork repair and sealing, the tell is usually visible on the first visit, and we say what it means in plain English.
Permit
Duct repair and sealing is not a permit job in New Jersey while the layout stays the same. A permit usually comes in when new runs are added, when the duct is replaced as part of an equipment change, or when the work opens a fire-rated assembly. Sealing accessible joints with mastic and tape is maintenance. If the fix needs new openings cut in a floor or a wall, that is the point to ask the town.
On the Shore
The Shore's humidity undoes ductwork. Flex in an attic sweats in summer, the jacket gets damp, and the inner liner separates from the wire helix or collapses. Salt air does not reach the ducts the way it reaches a roof, but the damp does, and it takes the tape and the mastic with it. Sealing here means a mastic that stays flexible through the swing from humid summer to dry winter heat, not a cloth-backed tape that dries and lets go in a season.
When we leave
The system is run and the airflow checked at the registers before the technician leaves, with a flow hood or by hand at each grille, plus a temperature reading at supply and return to confirm the split. Every joint that was sealed gets a look with the blower running, since a leak shows as a streak on the insulation. The care note: if a register is still weak after the repair, the problem is the return or the equipment, and that gets written down rather than guessed at.
Built with
The work uses the same flex or rigid duct as the existing system, sized to the run, with a collar and a strap at every takeoff. Sealing is fiber-reinforced mastic or a listed foil tape, never cloth duct tape, and joints get mastic even where tape is used. Support is a wide strap or saddle at close intervals so the duct stays round. Insulation value matches what is there, and a radiant barrier is only worth adding where the attic actually gets hot.
How soon can we book this?
Call and we usually get an on-site look scheduled within a day or two, sooner for anything active. Ductwork Repair and Sealing is booked from the same Ocean Township base.
Do you work weekends?
Yes. Saturday appointments are normal, and emergency repairs are answered 24/7.
Is this licensed work?
Licensed and insured, NJ HIC #13VH09886800. Where the town requires a permit, we pull it.
What if the job turns out bigger?
We stop and show you before we go any further, then quote the additional scope separately.
Will you clean up?
Floor protection, dust control, and haul-away are part of the visit, not an add-on.
How do I know if my ducts are leaking?
Weak registers, rooms that never match, dust at the supply, or a system that runs long. The accessible joints get checked with the blower running, since a leak leaves a dirty streak on the insulation.
Can you seal ducts without tearing out the ceiling?
Only the runs that can be reached: attic, crawlspace, basement, and the plenum. Duct buried in a finished ceiling is out of reach without opening it, and that is a different job.
Will sealing the ducts make the house cooler?
It makes the rooms more even and can shorten run times, because the air you paid to cool is reaching the rooms instead of the attic. It does not add capacity.
Why is one room always hot?
Usually a run that is too long, too small, or crushed, or a door that closes off the return path. The fix is at the duct or the return, not at the thermostat.
