Do you replace whole roofs?
Yes, when the deck is sound and the remaining life is gone. If a repair will get you five honest years, we say that too.
Can you find a leak without a full tear-off?
Usually. We water-test the flashing and the penetrations before we talk about a new roof.
Do you clean gutters on two-story colonials?
Yes. We do not lean a ladder on aluminum gutters that are already pulling out of the fascia.
Will you work after a nor'easter?
Call as soon as it is safe to be outside. Dry-in comes before the cosmetic work.
Where do Monmouth County leaks actually start?
Pipe boots, chimney counterflashing, and the sidewall where a dormer meets the shingles. The missing tab you can see from the lawn is rarely the stain on the ceiling.
Do you walk a roof after a nor'easter?
When it is safe. Lifted tabs get sealed or replaced the same visit if the deck is sound. A blue tarp is for an open hole, not for a loose shingle.
Why do gutters overflow at one corner?
The hangers pulled out of soft fascia and the pitch died. We replace the rotten board, then reset the gutter so water reaches the downspout.
Can you add gutter guards?
After the pitch is right. Guards on a gutter that ponds just hide the pond.
What soffit detail do you check with a roof leak?
Whether the vents are painted shut. Bath air trapped at the eave rots the deck from underneath and looks like a shingle failure.
Do you replace chimney crowns?
If the crown is cracked and washing water into the flue chase, yes. Repointing the brick without a crown is a one-winter repair.
