Soffit and Fascia Repair, on one written scope.
The wood at the eave that the gutter pulls out of, replaced and ventilated.

What’s included on a soffit and fascia repair visit.
We inspect the cause, check what else it touched, and leave a written scope with materials and timing. The visit is free and there is no obligation to book the work.
What to know before the visit.
Have ready
Clear the ground along the eave, move anything off the deck, and unlock the gate so a ladder can stand at the corner. Note where the gutter has pulled away and whether the soffit gives when you push up on it. The technician probes the fascia with an awl above the gutter hanger, checks the rafter tails behind it for soft wood, and reads the soffit vents for paint, insulation packed against them, or missing panels. Vent area and where the insulation stops at the eave decide how the repair gets detailed.
- Cut out the rot
- New fascia or wrap
- Open the soffit vents
- Rehang the gutter
The visit
A soffit and fascia repair visit starts by naming the failure, not by selling the fix. We check what the problem touched, protect the floors and the rooms below, and leave a written scope. The work is done in one sequence by the same company, so the trade that caused the damage is the trade that closes it.
What fails first on the Shore is what we look at: salt-rotted fasteners, water finding the soft spot, and the 'quick fix' that never dealt with the cause. For soffit and fascia repair, the tell is usually visible on the first visit, and we say what it means in plain English.
Permit
Fascia and soffit repair is normally not a permit job in New Jersey. It becomes one when rafter tails are cut back and sistered, or when the work includes recovering the eave with new roofing. Most towns treat fascia replacement on its own as ordinary repair. If rot runs past the fascia into framing, stop and ask the building department before the saw goes in, because that is the line between trim work and structural work.
On the Shore
The eave is where the Shore bites first. Salt air keeps the wood damp, the gutter holds meltwater against it, and freeze-thaw opens the paint film so water sits in the end grain. An aluminum cover traps that moisture and hides the rot until the gutter falls off. What lasts here is wood that can dry: primed on all faces before it goes up, a drip edge that sheds water past the fascia instead of onto it, and soffit vents that move air through the eave.
When we leave
The gutter goes back on the same visit and gets a water test at the outlet end, so the run can be watched and the pitch confirmed after the fascia moved. The soffit gets checked from below for gaps and for insulation pushed against the vents. You get photos of the rafter tails before the new board covered them. The care note: the first hard rain is the check, and what you are looking for is water behind the gutter, not over it.
Built with
Fascia is replaced with primed or PVC-composite board rather than raw pine, because the eave is the wettest part of the trim. Soffit panels are aluminum or vinyl with punched vents, sized to the intake the roof needs. Hangers go into solid wood or a fascia stiffener, never back into the old nail holes. Stainless or ceramic-coated fasteners hold at the Shore where plain galvanized bleeds rust streaks within a season.
How soon can we book this?
Call and we usually get an on-site look scheduled within a day or two, sooner for anything active. Soffit and Fascia Repair is booked from the same Ocean Township base.
Do you work weekends?
Yes. Saturday appointments are normal, and emergency repairs are answered 24/7.
Is this licensed work?
Licensed and insured, NJ HIC #13VH09886800. Where the town requires a permit, we pull it.
What if the job turns out bigger?
We stop and show you before we go any further, then quote the additional scope separately.
Will you clean up?
Floor protection, dust control, and haul-away are part of the visit, not an add-on.
Do you have to take the whole gutter down?
Usually only the section in front of the repair. That run comes off, the fascia is cut back to solid wood, and the gutter goes back the same day. The full run only comes down if hangers are pulling out along its length.
Can you cover the old fascia instead of replacing it?
A cover over soft wood hides the problem and gives the gutter nothing to hold. If an awl goes in easily, the board comes out. If it is sound, a wrap is fine.
Why is the soffit wet on the inside?
Warm air from the house is meeting a cold soffit, or the vents are blocked and the eave cannot dry. Ventilation gets fixed first, then the panel.
Will new fascia stop the ice dams?
No. Ice dams come from heat loss and poor attic ventilation. New fascia removes the rot the dams caused; it does not change why the ice forms.
