Drywall Installation and New Walls, on one written scope.
New board for additions, partitions, and basement finishes, hung plumb and finished to paint.

What’s included on a drywall installation and new walls visit.
We inspect the cause, check what else it touched, and leave a written scope with materials and timing. The visit is free and there is no obligation to book the work.
What to know before the visit.
Have ready
Clear the space and confirm the rough-ins are done before the board goes up, because plumbing and electrical have to be inspected while the framing is still open. Say if the room is a basement or a garage, since that changes the board choice. The technician checks the framing first: stud spacing and whether the studs are straight, blocking where cabinets, grab bars, or a television will hang, and the ceiling joists and light openings overhead.
- Frame check
- Hang the board
- Tape and coat
- Level 4 or 5 finish
The visit
A drywall installation and new walls visit starts by naming the failure, not by selling the fix. We check what the problem touched, protect the floors and the rooms below, and leave a written scope. The work is done in one sequence by the same company, so the trade that caused the damage is the trade that closes it.
What fails first on the Shore is what we look at: salt-rotted fasteners, water finding the soft spot, and the 'quick fix' that never dealt with the cause. For drywall installation and new walls, the tell is usually visible on the first visit, and we say what it means in plain English.
Permit
New walls and a finished basement do require a building permit in New Jersey, and finishing a basement almost always brings an electrical permit and inspection with it because outlets, switches, and lighting are part of the work. The framing, the insulation, and sometimes the board get looked at before they are covered. Hanging board over work that was never inspected is the mistake to avoid.
On the Shore
In a basement around here, humidity is the issue: board that goes up against a damp slab or a wall with no vapor control can sag, soften, or grow mold, and the paper facing feeds it. Salt air is more of a factor in garages and outbuildings. A moisture-resistant board in damp areas, a gap between the board and the slab floor, and letting the space dry before it is closed are what keep the wall serviceable.
When we leave
Before the finish goes on, the technician checks the wall with a long straightedge and a raking light for flatness, checks the corners for square, and confirms the electrical boxes sit flush with the finished face and the outlets and switches are reachable. The care note covers the dust from sanding, the cure time between coats, and the fact that the finish level chosen for the room decides the amount of sanding the wall gets.
Built with
Board is usually half inch on walls and five eighths on ceilings where joists are spaced wider, with moisture-resistant board in baths and mold-resistant board in damp basements or on crawlspace walls. Screws go in at the right spacing and are set just below the surface. Paper tape and all-purpose compound bed the joints, lightweight compound finishes them, and corner bead goes on outside corners.
How soon can we book this?
Call and we usually get an on-site look scheduled within a day or two, sooner for anything active. Drywall Installation and New Walls is booked from the same Ocean Township base.
Do you work weekends?
Yes. Saturday appointments are normal, and emergency repairs are answered 24/7.
Is this licensed work?
Licensed and insured, NJ HIC #13VH09886800. Where the town requires a permit, we pull it.
What if the job turns out bigger?
We stop and show you before we go any further, then quote the additional scope separately.
Will you clean up?
Floor protection, dust control, and haul-away are part of the visit, not an add-on.
Can you hang the board and leave the finishing to us?
That can be split if you want to do the taping and sanding. The hanging is what sets the finish, so the board still needs to be cut tight, screwed properly, and set up so whoever finishes it can work. You will be told what the split leaves you.
Do we need a permit for a basement?
A finished basement is permitted work in New Jersey, and the electrical part is inspected as well. Hanging board over framing and wiring that was never inspected can mean opening it back up later. The permit gets pulled before the board goes on.
How long does the finishing take?
Taping and coating is several visits, because each coat has to dry before the next one goes on, and coastal humidity stretches that out. Sanding and touch-up follow. The sequence gets laid out so you know when the room is usable again.
Do you move our outlets and switches?
The board is cut around the existing boxes so they land flush with the finished wall, and any box set too deep gets extended. Moving a box or adding a circuit is electrical work and gets handled as its own part of the job before the board goes up.
